Ginger Science is the first platform dedicated to exploring the intersection of genetics, longevity, and personalized wellness for redheads.
Rooted in scientific research, we leverage emerging discoveries in genomics, neuroscience, and dermatology to address the unique health needs of individuals with the MC1R gene variant.
From increased pain sensitivity to sun exposure risks and potential neurodivergence, our mission is to decode the redhead genome and create actionable health strategies to live longer, happier lives.
About the Founder
MC1R Ginger Science was founded by Nina Kilbride, a lawyer and legaltech developer with deep expertise in decentralized systems and a lifelong passion for using technology to solve real-world problems. As a redhead and rare disease mom based in Research Triangle Park, Nina understands firsthand how often people with rare traits—like the MC1R gene variant—fall through the cracks of mainstream medicine.
Her journey into personalized wellness began not in a lab, but through lived experience. She saw how decentralized systems could transform not just finance or governance, but health—especially for those who’ve historically been overlooked. With MC1R Ginger Science, she’s building a platform that brings together community-driven research, cutting-edge tech, and practical wellness solutions designed specifically for redheads.
Nina is especially focused on the link between redhead biology and neurodiversity, pain perception, and longevity. Her goal is to empower redheads everywhere with tools and data that reflect their unique genetic blueprint—and to shift the conversation from coping to thriving.
